1 Samuel 31

The Philistines fight. They kill all of Saul's sons (including Jonathan). Saul commands his armor bearer to kill him. When the armor bearer refuses, Saul runs himself into his sword. The armor bearer kills himself too. Saul's body is desecrated by the Philistines at Beth Sham. The Isrealites recover his body and bury him at Jabesh.

Saul's death

The Philistines attacked Israel and everyone fled before them. They killed Saul's sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Maklishua. The archers over took Saul and wounded him. Saul asked his armor bearer to kill him before the Philistines could. The armor bearer was afraid and wouldn't so Saul fell on his own sword and killed himself. The armor bearer did the same afterwards. They all died that same day.
When the Israelites saw and heard what happened they fled their towns and the Philistines occupied them.
The next day the Philistines went to strip the dead, cut off Saul's head, and striped his armor. They sent out messengers throughout the land to proclaim the news. They put his armor in a temple of Ashtoreth and fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan.
The people of Jabesh Gilead (who Saul defended from the Ammonites) retrieved his body, burned it, buried his bones at Jabesh, and fasted 7 days.

I'm sort of sad to see Saul go, especially the way he did. His story is sad to me but it's only because he turned from God......... it's not worth it!
