Psalm 71

"A Prayer for help in old age"

Getting more and more relevant all the time.

3. "Be thou to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for thou art my rock and my fortress."

15. "My mouth will tell of thy righteous acts, of thy deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge.
16. "With the might deeds of the Lord I will come, I will praise thy righteousness, thine alone."

This is a message of hope. As we grow older we recognize God's help and influence throughout our life more and more, especially when we DIDN'T ask for it. As we recognize this our praise grows and we recognize God more and more publicly our joy and gratitude will cause us to want to sing and shout.

14 "I will always have hope and praise you more and more."
22 "I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness. I will sing praise to you with the lyre."
23 "My lips will shout for joy."
24 "My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long."

This is one of the things I enjoyed about Dick Van Dyke's autobiography. He does this very thing; recognizes that God is responsible for his success and that he personally never made decisions or sought out his greatest successes. They just happened and now Dick can't help but give God glory. I wasn't expecting this from the book.
