1 - 12 Instructions on Conduct and Prayer

Some sayings on human conduct
- (1) Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.
- (6) Do not give what is holy to the dogs.
- (7) Ask and it will be given to you.
- (12) In everything do to others as you would have them do to you.

13 - 28 A Series of Warnings

- (13) Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction . . .
- (15) Beware of false prophets . . .
- (21) Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdome of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in Heaven."
- (24) Everyone then who hears my name and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock . . .

This ends the sermon on the mount.

Question: Explain, verse 6, putting it in your own words.

ANSWER: Gal 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

Regarding your last comment - there's a lot to ponder, practice and pray about in Genesis/Exodus: What is the nature of man's relationship to God? What is God's covenant with his chosen people and how has that relationship evolved (to this day)? I've heard it said that the NT is illuminated in the OT and the OT is fulfilled in the NT.

That said, I'm glad to be in Matthew where I feel comfortable.
